This is a Turbine Enstrom Helicopter on the Heli Pad of a Greenpeace ship some where off the coast of Ireland. One of the deck straps has not been released correctly, with what was very nearly disastrous consequence. Pilot skill and quick thinking saved the day.

As of right now, the Commanche project is on hold indefinitely, because it just got way too expensive. Also, instead of being strictly a scout helicopter, the project became more and more like an attack helicopter until it reached a point where it was stepping on too many Apache toes, and rather than move back to the original plan of making it a scout helo, they've decided to just scrap it and keep the Apache for attack and the Kiowa for observation (although even that they've put into attack)

No the comanche project hasn't been scrapped. It's still undergoing the final experimentation just as the F-22 had. It takes years for aircraft in general to pass the tests needed to convince the military it's ready for real combat. Trust me, if it's been scrapped then we still wouldn't hear talk about it all over the TV.

Having flown on the Navy version of this Helo that seemed to be a Marine 46.The intakes were different from the Navy version and also no external hoist which the Navy version had for search and rescue.Pilot error all the way came in way too hot on a deck that small.Landing during the day was tricky but at night with no moon it was demanding.Its easy to get vertigo when you can't tell the water from the sky!Godspeed......

The collective pitch changes positive to negative in a blink. Flip it over and the collective just reverses. Press up and it'll go down and vise versa. If I remember, some radios have a switch you can flip when the heli is inverted. Then the controls function normally . It took years of practice to get this good.

Well, hovering a chopper a few inches above the ground would show little skill in the pilot indeed. However, this guy does it UPSIDE DOWN! (@ 3:24). Every move you see that chopper make the pilot is in absolute control. At first glance, yeah it looks like he's the worst pilot in the world. But normal people would crash it at every single one of these tricks. Not Szabo. I've never seen a dog love water so much (I used to be a lab owner) and our Newf will get in the tub and submerse himself in water - he LOVES baths! We never have to hold him down when we bathe him. I signed up just so I could post a comment for this video. We went camping when our newf was a 3 mth old puppy and of course had her in the water playing fetch. Our 8 yr old son would be swimming and she would swim back and forth in front of him until he grabbed her coat so she could pull him to shore.
