So’s mine. I’m doing nothing. That kind of algae is caused by heat and sunlight. Patience makes it go away. You can try tinting the water blue. My personal opinion is that nothing is the best thing. No chemicals.

I have friends who have a water garden. They don’t use any chemicals or filters. They have carefully chosen a select group of water plants that filter and clean the water naturally.

The only way to naturally get rid of algae is to make sure that apx 70 percent of the surface area is shaded.I know that sounds ridiculous but every year after the pond thaws from winter ,I get Algae.Once the leaves come onto the trees and my water lettuce and water hyacinths are multiplying it gradually goes away.I dont use any chemicals or store bought filters for my pond.My husband built me a waterfall out of stone with a small basin in it.I have it full of water hyacinths to filter my pond naturally and it works well.
